Wiegmann To Stay

February 3, 2009

Casey Wiegmann Plays In Pre-Season

As the off-season starts we have our first piece of good news and that is that Casey Wiegmann will be staying as the Center for the Denver Broncos after a Pro Bowl Season. His agent Joe Linda said would be, “[playing] at least the next couple of years.”

Wiegmann who is 36-years old, will return for at least one more season in Denver. Exciting news, in that the Broncos will have at least one more season to groom the heir to Tom Nalen who is believed to have retired even though not officially.

Also this helps us because we won’t have to use another draft pick on the position for another year. I think that Kory Lichtensteiger could be a great replacement for Wiegmann/Nalen and could start for a long time for the Broncos.

In other news there are rumors circulating that D.J Williams will make yet another Linebacker position change next year so we can have a bit more flexibility in the Free Agency Market and the NFL Draft. This is especially important with a new 3-4 Defense in place. We will have more news on this as it unfolds.
