Tony Scheffler Traded To Detroit Lions

April 19, 2010

Tony Scheffler has been officially traded to the Detroit Lions in exchange for a 5th round pick, orginally from the Cleveland Browns. It was a 3 way trade that sent Linebacker Ernie Sims to Philadelphia, Tony Scheffler and our 7th round pick to the Lions, and a 5th to us.

Scheffler was unhappy, and we probably got appropriate value for what the mainstream media thought he was worth, but I am very unhappy with it. This is simply a bad trade, and I will review it later today in an editorial so stay tuned for that.

Santonio Holmes and Ted Ginn Jr. both went for only 5th rounders, the trade market is rough these days. Tony Scheffler was also very unhappy in Denver, he now returns to his hometown, and is “relieved”. Obviously the Broncos wanted more in return, but because everyone knew Scheffler wanted out, his trade value probably dropped. Also, having a bunch of draft picks is kind nice.
