Scouting Report: Earl Thomas

April 15, 2010

Earl Thomas, S, Texas

Strengths: Very productive … Good recovery speed and acceleration … Has some of the best instincts in this years class … Reads the QB’s eyes … Definitely a ballhawk … Smooth, fluid hips … A solid tackler in the pass game … Recognizes routes quickly … Has great potential.

Weaknesses: Not a great contributor to the running game … Small body, only 5-10, 197 pounds … Teams will worry about his durability in the pros … Take big risks, and they don’t always bring rewards.

Overall: Earl Thomas is a small player who weighs in at only 197 pounds. While he is very talented, I am worried about his limitations in the pros. Yeah, he has great potential but there will be a lot of things keeping him from reaching that: He’s weak in the running game, small and has questionable durability. But one team will think he is worth the risk and spend a 1st round pick on him.

1st round pick
