Jason Elam to Sign 1 Day Contract; Retire as a Bronco.

March 30, 2010

Longtime Denver Broncos kicker Jason Elam has decided to sign a one day contract with the Broncos after leaving them in 2008, so he can officially retire with the team that he spent 14 years playing with. In his time, he tied the record for longest field goal ever, most points scored by a Bronco and won two Super Bowls with hall of famers John Elway and Gary Zimmerman.

Elam is the epitome of a true Denver Bronco even after leaving for Atlanta a few years back, where Broncos fans still heartily supported him. He is one of the greatest kickers ever and might be one of only a few to be considered for the hall of fame.

Broncos nation and myself surely are thankful for Elam and coach Josh McDaniels for agreeing on such a great idea.

His retirement will take place at a news conference in Denver at 4 p.m Wednesday. Elam will finish his career as a three-time Pro Bowler who is sixth in NFL history with 1,983 points scored. Enjoy your retirement Jason, you have most definitely earned it.
