Scouting Report: Jared Odrick

March 28, 2010

Jared Odrick, DT, Penn State, 6’5, 304 lbs

Strengths: A great athlete, with elite speed for a Tackle … Powerful, pushes around Centers at the Line … Smart, with great awareness … Fires off the snap … Is deadly in pursuit, always closing in … Able to penetrate the pocket … Uses his hands pretty well … Fiery competitor.

Weaknesses: Doesn’t always use proper technique … Needs to fix his leverage … He has trouble moving laterally … Always aggressive? … Sometimes will get locked in his blocks … Had trouble producing stats in college.

Overview: Odrick isn’t the Defensive End/Tackle I would choose for my team. I am worried by his technique and the fact he didn’t make very many big plays in college. That said, he has a lot of good traits: He is strong, quick and a great competitor. One problem for the Broncos if they want him, will be that he might fall in between their first and second round picks. Too low for their first, two high for their second. It should be interesting to see if a team jumps on Odrick late in the first.

Late 1st, early 2nd rounder
