Broncos Re-Sign Josh Barrett.

March 16, 2010

Adam Caplan of Scout.com is reporting that Denver Broncos Safety Josh Barrett has been re-signed for another season with the club. He is the second restricted free agent to be signed by the Broncos this off-season.

Barrett is a second-year safety who started Denver’s final three games of the season as a rookie in 2008, finishing the campaign with 23 tackles (15 solo) and one interception (34 yds.). He was drafted in the seventh round of the 2008 NFL Draft, by former Broncos coach Mike Shanahan. In 2009 he participated in fourteen games, starting none, accumulating ten tackles (nine solo) and participating on special teams.

It’s been great seeing Barrett go this far, after being drafted so low and having such a slow start to his career. He was cut and put on the practice squad, but eventually was signed back to the roster and has been able to switch coaches and still be re-signed.

Barrett has been an effective player on both defense and special teams. I can’t wait to see what he can add to the team in 2010. I have a feeling this could be a great year!
