Orton, Marshall, Dumervil, Kuper and Scheffler all Receive Tenders

March 3, 2010

This afternoon it was announced that Kyle Orton, Brandon Marshall, Elvis Dumervil, Chris Kuper, and Tony Scheffler were all tendered before the beginning of Free Agency on Friday. These 5 are some of the highest tendered prospects in the league also.

Kyle Orton has been tendered with a 1st rounder along with Chris Kuper, being the first of the 5 to receive a tender. Brandon Marshall was also tendered but only with a 1st round pick. This means that the Broncos may be keen on letting him go, assuming that the price has been set relatively low. I personally think that anyone with three 100+ catch seasons, deserves a higher tender, but you can see the reasoning.

Elvis Dumervil has yet to reach an agreement before the tender date like it was expected he would, but was tendered with a 1st and 3rd round pick. From what you can tell, the Broncos have put this high of a tender on him, hoping to deter teams away from giving him an offer. Chances are, he will be secured in a long term deal.

Tight End Tony Scheffler also received a tender of a 2nd round pick. This is higher than many expected, so there is actually a chance that he could return to Denver if nobody is willing to give a second round pick for him. I think Camp Scheffler will be rooting for someone to do just that.

Le Kevin Smith on the other hand was not given a tender and will test the open market as an Unrestricted Free Agent.

So we can safely say that Elvis Dumervil, Chris Kuper and Kyle Orton will all be back next season with the high tenders given to them. That said, the jury is still out on whether or not Tony Scheffler and Brandon Marshall will stay in Denver.
