Seth Olsen a Starter?

March 2, 2010

A week removed from the trading of Casey Wiegmann and just three days before Free Agency begins, there is already talk about who will be replacing Ben Hamilton/Russ Hochstein as the Broncos starting Left Guard. Apparently, second year Guard Seth Olsen could be a dark horse.

When The Denver Post asked Broncos Head Coach Josh McDaniels whether or not Seth Olsen will get a shot at playing Left Guard, he confirmed the suspicion he could be a candidate for the job: “[Olsen] sure will,” McDaniels said. “He’s a guy we have high hopes for, high expectations. He does too.”

Seth Olsen, who was selected by the Broncos in the fourth round (132nd overall) of the 2009 NFL Draft from the University of Iowa, played in three games in 2009, the majority replacing Russ Hochstein with his season ending knee injury.

More and more scenarios seem to be coming in play every day to see who will be on the Broncos Offensive Line next season. McDaniels is not shying away from the questions either as he seems to be becoming more and more media friendly this off-season. “We do want to get a little bit bigger. There’s no denying that,” he says about the Offensive Line.

Free agency begins on March 5th of which we will have up to minute coverage on everything Broncos, and I am sure we will learn more then.
