Wiegmann, Jordan Released.

February 23, 2010

It was announced today that Broncos center Casey Wiegmann and running back LaMont Jordan were released from the team. Wiegmann was only one year ago a Pro Bowler and earlier this season was resigned for another year.

But with the announcement that the Broncos will be fully shifting to a Power Blocking system, it seemed that Wiegmann was one of the odd-men out on the Offensive Line. He has never played in this system before, and is not fit to do so. This is not a surprising move at all, but still somewhat upsetting. He has been great for us the past two years.

Jordan was signed last March and came in during some situations on 3rd downs and goal-lines. That said, he never was very beloved by Broncos fans. In fact, he has become a punch line of sorts, after being chosen over Peyton Hillis, often times throughout the season, to the frustration of many fans.

The Broncos will probably look to replace him during free agency or maybe the draft. Correll Buckhalter, I could also see being cut or traded in the near future.

It’s about time! when we couldn’t get one friggin yard against the raiders……don’t blame Knowson…….It’s the offensive front that can’t hold up…. We need offensive front and defensive front…….PERIOD!
