Broncos Targeting McNabb?

February 9, 2010

Donovan McNabb of the Philadelphia Eagles has been rumored to be on the trade block, and Adam Schefter of ESPN is reporting that the Broncos have been showing interest in trading for the Eagles star Quarterback.

“Multiple teams have called Eagles to inquire about their three QBs. The conversation, and speculation, will heat up in early March,” Schefter tweeted. Les Bowen though, a writer for the Philadelphia Inquirer, following that tweet reported that it was the Buffalo Bills, the Cleveland Browns, and of course the Denver Broncos who gave the Eagles a ring.

But the question remains, whether the Broncos were targeting Donovan McNabb, or Kevin Kolb who would seem like more of a fit for Josh McDaniels’ system. They might have been targeting Michael Vick, who it was rumored the Broncos had interest in last off-season.

Eagles running back Brian Westbrook seems to think that Donovan McNabb will be back though:“I think there is no question in my mind if Donovan will be back. After what he was able to do last year which he had a very good year of course. Everybody measures, a lot of fans measure by Super Bowls. If you look at this football team with Donovan and without Donovan I think you would be hard-pressed to say that there was better quarterback in the league than Donovan McNabb for the Philadelphia Eagles.”

It’s well known that Josh McDaniels has had a high level of respect for the Eagles franchise, from nearly hiring Sean McDermott as our Defensive Coordinator last season, to signing Brian Dawkins and Correll Buckhalter. It seems that adding one of their QB’s would be the next step.

If McNabb comes at a low price tag which would be about a second rounder this year and a second rounder in 2011, (very reasonable), I would jump if I were the Broncos. His arm strength, versatility and experience would definitely help us win a few more games next season. It would also make Denver a more popular team to go to in Free Agency.

Kevin Kolb we could also get at a lower price, and he has shown flashes of brilliance. That said, we would be bringing back a QB competition to Denver, and we don’t even know what we are truly getting in Kolb. So I guess we will see, but do not fear, we’ll keep you updated on any new news on this rumor.

    It won’t happen.

probably not. I’d be surprised honestly if they were actually targeting McNabb specifically.
