Scouting Report: Selvish Capers

February 1, 2010

Selvish Capers, OT, West Virginia

Strengths: Decent size with room to grow … One of the most athletic tackles in the class … Quite agile for a tackle … Great balance and body control … Able to get to the second level with ease … Sustains blocks for long amounts of time … Slides laterally like a pro and mirrors opponents … LOTS of upside.

Weaknesses: Is not strong enough to start right now … I’m not sure about his instincts … Needs to be more stout at the point of attack … Not a great knee bender … Really needs to work on his footwork … Doesn’t always get good leverage.

Overview: I like the upside that Selvish Capers brings to the table. His speed is among the best of any Tackle I’ve seen enter the draft in ages. My personal favorite part about him though, is how he manages to mirror his opponents. The problem is, he needs to bulk up a bit and become a bit stronger. If he can do that and fix some technical problems he has, he could be a solid Tackle in the NFL.

2nd to 3rd rounder

I’m enjoying reading your scouting reports. How about adding the player weight and size? It’s the first thing I google after I read your reports.

Thanks for the feedback Jeff. I’ve been considering doing so for a little while now, and will probably start in the next few ones.

And also a note, since we can’t fit all of them on the back page, we put some on back post (even some new ones). We have links to all of them under The Big Board.
