Scouting Report: Trent Williams

January 22, 2010

Trent Williams, OT, Oklahoma

Strengths: Perfectly good size for the position … Very athletic … Excellent footwork … Has a nice knee bend … Very instinctive … Can mirror well, and counter opponents moves … Very good lateral movement … Has the best balance of any Offensive Tackle in the class … Moves quickly on the edge … Has long arms.

Weaknesses: Is not a very physical run blocker … Needs to be more aware of the blitz … He doesn’t have very good posture … Doesn’t always have great concentration … Is only average at gaining leverage.

Overall: Trent Williams has a good share of weaknesses, but he is so good at what he does that it makes up for them. His biggest strength is his athleticism, and body features. His long arms give him an edge on his defenders and the fact that he mirrors his opponents so well, allows him to keep most fast pass rushers away from the QB. He is a bit rough around the edges but could be a great Left Tackle.
