Elvis Dumervil Discusses Haiti Earthquake On Sports Center

January 15, 2010

Yesterday, tragedy struck the small country of Haiti when a 7.0 earthquake hit. It caused massive damagem killing as the countries president put it “several hundred thousand” people. Broncos Linebacker Elvis Dumervil, who is of Haitian decent, was on SportsCenter today to discuss the tragedy, and to describe what happened.

“There’s no electricity and stuff like that and there are lots of dead bodies on the ground … [The country] is already struggling and for something like this to happen its very unfortunate.” Dumervil would be correct, for as they pointed out later in the segment, Haiti is the western hemispheres poorest country.

He also pointed out that we can help.

All you need to do is text “HAITI” to 90999 and confirm the $10 American Red Cross International Relief Fund charge to your cell phone bill. Darrell Reid, another Broncos Linebacker did this 10 times today according to his twitter page. I have done the same.

The people of Haiti and Elvis Dumervils’ family are in our thoughts and prayers.
