Mike Shanahan, Redskins Reach Deal

January 5, 2010

Former Broncos Head Coach and two time Super Bowl winner, Mike Shanahan has been in serious discussions for weeks with the Washington Redskins to become their new head coach. It’s been all but official for two days and now, it finally is according to the Denver Post.

The report is coming from sources “close to the negotiations.” The source says that he will sign the contract tomorrow and announce the agreement tomorrow. “Shanahan is to receive a five-year contract from the Redskins at approximately the same salary he had during his final contract with the Broncos,” according to Mike Klis.

Pat Bowlen will be very happy when he receives this news. He has been paying out Mike Shanahans contract and will no longer have to pay him any more money. Bowlen will also be happy that he will not be going to a rival team.

Mike Klis is also reporting that he will work with G.M Bruce Allen, who it has been reported that Mike Shanahan has been wanting to work with for some time. It is also rumored that Mike Shanahan will bring in his son, Offensive Coordinator Kyle Shanahan from the Houston Texans, and also wants to bring in Defensive Coordinator Mike Zimmer from the Bengals.

We wish the best of luck to Shanahan in D.C. He will always have a very special place in the heart of Denver Broncos fans.
