The World has Gone Mad: Broncos Lose to the Raiders 20-19

December 20, 2009

Well this is just ridiculous. I mean, this game was pure insanity, and I’m not talking about losing to the Raiders. People were losing their pants, Raiders fans were shining lasers into Broncos players eyes, and we were throwing the ball to Ryan Clady, yes our Left Tackle Ryan Clady.

The play calling was excruciatingly painful to watch, and the execution of the play calling was even worse. We couldn’t run the ball. We had trouble passing it too. We couldn’t stop the run. And we weren’t able to defend the end zone from the Pillsbury Doughboy Jamarcus Russell. How on earth did this happen? Now it’s in question if we will even get a wild card seed.

It just boggles my mind. For one thing, McDaniels needs to stop with the gimmick play calling. By that, I mean not calling throws to the Left Tackle. But seriously, who’s Ryan Clady going to outrun? That was almost funny it was so bad. And to that point, we don’t have anyone to run gimmick play calling.

Kyle Orton wasn’t bad, but his team nor his coach was helping him at all. Brandon Marshall, for yet another week, seems to be the only player on the offense who can make plays. Let’s face it: When you are losing to the Raiders, there is something seriously wrong. Injuries didn’t help us either. We are missing our star starting Right Tackle, our Free Safety and our big play running back. Wow.

The defense needs help too. While that goal line stand earlier in the game was very impressive, almost nothing else today was. We let Michael Bush/Darren McFadden/Justin Fargas obliterate our defense. It was just pathetic.

And when they had to go to their third string QB Jamarcus Russell who has a season QB rating of no more than 50.0 to win the game, we let him score a game winning touchdown. I honestly don’t think I’ve been this mad about a game since we lost the 2006 AFC championship when Jake Plummer threw 4 interceptions. I think I’m even more upset here.

Now we need to win our next 2 games to get a spot in the playoffs. There are no ifs, ands or buts. Just win 2 games. We’re playing the Eagles next week, the day after Christmas.

Merry Christmas and go Broncos!
