Moreno Signs With Broncos

August 7, 2009

The Denver Post is reporting that the Denver Broncos and their number 12 overall pick, Knowshon Moreno, have agreed to terms over his contract. He will probably be out by tomorrows afternoon practice.

The two parties agreed to a $23 million contract that includes a guarantee of nearly $13 million. It is expected to be over 5 years.

Moreno led the SEC and ranked 11th in the nation in rushing yards and received consensus first-team All-Southeastern Conference honors. He also was tabbed a second-team All-American by the Associated Press and the Walter Camp Foundation.

“There wasn’t much I could do except workout all week. I’m happy to be part of the Broncos now. And I’m going to get back there and work hard,” Moreno commented on the new contract.

He will certainly have a lot to catch up on and Josh McDaniels certainly agrees:

“He’s got some work to do to catch up,” said Broncos coach Josh McDaniels, noting Moreno missed the team’s first 12 training camp practices. “He’ll learn his role after he gets here, that’s the best way to say it. Whatever he does with the opportunities he has when he gets here that’ll tell us where to play him and how much to play and that goes for everybody.”

I can’t wait to see Knowshon in his first pre-season game. We haven’t had an elite Running Back in a long time and I think we have found him. Rookie of the year anyone?
