Dawkins Injured, Out For “A Few Days”

August 5, 2009

dawkinsCould Josh McDaniels keeping the activities inside the Broncos headquarters any more secret? The latest example of the full media lockdown on information comes about future Hall of Fame Safety Brian Dawkins.

Dawkins, who was taken out of Tuesday afternoon’s practice is reportedly injured and McDaniels won’t give any details about it. He’ll be out for a few days,” McDaniels said. “I wouldn’t expect it to last too long, certainly nothing devastating.” When asked where Dawkins was injured, McDaniels joked, “Somewhere above the ground.”

With Dawkins out though, the Broncos are inserting some rookie Safeties into the lineup like Darcel McBath and David Bruton who were drafted in the second and fourth rounds respectively.

The media lockdown is frustrating but it is just part of the attitude that the new regime is bringing. The problem is that it leads to speculation and suddenly everyone predicts the worst. Actually, you may want to read John Benas’ (of Mile High Report) insightful article he wrote on this topic. You can read that here.
