Greisen Out For Season.

August 4, 2009

On Monday, recently signed Outside Linebacker Nick Greisen went down with a leg injury and was forced to limp off the field. Greisen was put on the reserve-injured list, ending his season with the Broncos less than a week into training camp today.

This means that a roster spot is now open for unsigned rookie Running Back Knowshon Moreno. Convenient but probably not the player the Broncos planned on cutting for Moreno.

I was very excited about when Greisen signed with us. He was a talented Outside Linebacker who was very successful throughout his NFL career. He has spent the last two seasons backing up Terrell Suggs on the Baltimore Ravens.

I felt like he could really contribute and it quite is upsetting that he has to leave the team. This most likely spells the end for Greisen after a long and prosperous NFL career. Bronco Madness wishes the best of luck for Greisen and hopes for a “speedy” recovery.

Thanks for posting the article, it’s sad to see him go though.

I didn’t really like Greisen but it would still be nice to have him. He was certainly better than an undrafted free agent.

He also may have been nice to have on ST. Oh well, — football. He opened up a spot for somebody else. (Nothing against him, but injuries are sometimes nice, players can then prove them selves. Happens alot with rooks when vets go down. We may have never know (or at least have had a delayed discovery) how good Peyton Hillis was at running if Ryan Torain.

Very astute point, Jon. It can be good to see the backups show their true colors.
