Broncos Sign Braxton Kelly

August 4, 2009

Picture 1The Broncos were not slow to sign a replacement for Nick Greisen today. After the Outside Linebacker went down for the season, the Broncos went out and immediately signed undrafted rookie Braxton Kelley of Kentucky University.

Kelley earlier this season was cut to open up a roster spot, but the Broncos decided to bring him back and give him a second chance. Kelley is an Outside Linebacker who is extremely undersized for his position. It almost reminds you of another undrafted Kentucky Linebacker who signed with us last season who is now a household name among Broncos fans. Wesley Woodyard.

Acutally, Woodyard and Kelley are reuniting for the second time. They played with each other in Kentucky and also in High School at LaGrange.

At first, it was speculated that the Broncos were not going to get a replacement for Greisen and just leave it open until Knowshon Moreno signed with us. Instead, they look to be giving another player a second chance and just cut another player.

Braxton became very popular in Kentucky when he made one of the most pivotal plays in Kentucky football’s history. In triple overtime, he stuffed LSU on a fourth-and-two play, securing the UK upset victory over the nation’s top team.
