Jarvis Moss Considering Retirement

August 1, 2009

Wow, surprising news coming from Josina Anderson of KDVR about our 2007 first round pick. Apparently, Jarvis Moss a Defensive End who we drafted two years ago from Florida is considering retirement as he was absent from todays practices.

“I was told Jarvis went to (Josh) McDaniels and met one-on-one with the coach and said he does not want to do this anymore. He feels he might be done with football and he’s thinking about retirement,” A source with knowledge of the situation told Josina Anderson today.

I think we can all agree that this is shocking news but it really won’t have that much of an impact on us. Jarvis has been about as big a bust as you can. So while it is sad to see someone with as much potential as he did to leave, it’s not like we are going to be screwed without him.

Broncos’ General Manager Brian Xanders was approached to respond to the information but told FOX 31 Sports, “no comment.” So to that, we say: This is not just any rumor. It seems pretty accurate. The source added that he felt that Jarvis was struggling in the new 3-4 system.

No duh.

And if it wasn’t surprising enough, here is what he said Friday: “It’s a brand new start for me. I’m going to continue to work hard, pray, and everything will take care of itself.” Apparently,  his view has changed a lot since when he last said that.

I fully now expect him to leave. But if he doesn’t, don’t expect him to have as big a role as he might of, had he not told McD he was considering leaving. We’ll keep our eyes on this.
