Ayers Won’t Report To Camp On Time

July 30, 2009

Picture 2Earlier today John Clayton reported that Robert Ayers and the Broncos are very close to a deal but he still will not report to camp on time. The NFL decided to decline the contract because of unclear language that was used in it.

The ESPN reporter did not guarantee he won’t be there tomorrow though. The Broncos have been known to work out contracts with not much time left to get players to report on time, i.e Jarvis Moss in 2007 or Ryan Clady in 2008.

Fellow 1st round pick Knowshon Moreno, does not look to be near to a contract though and will almost definitely not report on time tomorrow.

This seems to happen with the Broncos a lot but not many other teams. Last year this happened to 7th round Safety Josh Barrett and I also remember a few other instances the past years. If Ayers doesn’t make it to camp though, I will be very disappointed.

In other news, the Broncos signed some familiar faces in Cornerback Roshod Molton who we waived earlier this year and rookie Wide Receiver Travis Shelton who was also waived in June.
