Bailey, Greene Released Wiegmann Re-Signed

June 17, 2009

Picture 1A busy week in the most quiet part of the season for the Denver Broncos. Yesterday sources have announced that we released special teams standout, Linebacker Louis Greene from the roster who had been a favorite of Mike Shanahan for many years.

Today though, we released another Linebacker, Boss Bailey the injury prone brother of Broncos Cornerback Champ Bailey.(Next: Champ Bailey asks for trade from team.) Boss was extremely gracious though when asked about it:

“I wasn’t really surprised by it. I understand how the business goes,” Bailey said. “It’s a business call. I appreciate everything they’ve done for me since I’ve been here. Once you’re a Bronco, you’re always a Bronco.

In other, maybe better news, our Pro Bowl Center Casey Wiegmann and the Broncos finally came to terms in an agreement. It is reportedly a two year contract and definitely a boost from the relatively small contract we gave him last season which only accounted for a bit under $850,000.

Wiegmann, if Marshall is traded will be the Broncos only Pro Bowler left and definitely the most professional of them.
