Moss & Crowder On Trading Block?

April 22, 2009

Tim Crowder

New Broncos Head Coach Josh McDaniels really is going full out on changing this defense totally. By doing that he is trying to forget the first two picks in the 2006 draft ever happened and is currently shopping the underachieving Defensive Ends, Jarvis Moss and Tim Crowder according to the National Football Post.

Moss, a second year veteran out of the University of Florida, has only started 1 game in the past two seasons.  In addition, Moss only amassed 12 tackles in 2008 and Crowder, a second year vet out of the University of Texas, only appeared in 19 total games for the Broncos since being drafted but while playing in those games did play pretty well and some Broncos thought would be the best part of the mainly dreary 2006 draft.

I can’t comment on the validity of these rumors but I can say that it is probably for the best. I really doubted that Moss was going to have any impact as an Outside Pass Rush Linebacker and Tim Crowder who I felt still had potential I wondered where we could fit him in.

The truth is, they are both 4-3 Defensive Ends and will have a lot of trouble switching to 3-4 Outside Linebackers or in Crowder’s case whatever they want him to do. (If anything). The only problem is, both are being payed good money to play benchwarmer and I don’t know how willing a team would be to trade for that.

Also there is the question on what in fact we will get in return. I could see maybe a late to mid round pick on Jarvis Moss assuming that I am sure there is some crazed head coach who thinks that they could turn him into what he was “supposed to be.” Some potential destinations could include the Lions, Redskins, and Raiders.

I agree Horvil, we did need a player like them but the problem is that they just aren’t fit for our team anymore. We need to send them away where they can be most successful because really, they aren’t bringing anything to us right now.
