Exclusive Draft Profile: Eben Britton

April 11, 2009

Eben Britton could land anywhere in the draft. He could end up being drafted in the first round, second round or maybe even third round. He is an Offensive Tackle from Arizona and is one of the more interesting and hard working prospects in this years draft. Currently we have him projected in the second round but could easily raise over time in the next two weeks before the draft.

Name: Eben Britton

Position: Offensive Tackle

School: Arizona

Height & Weight: 6-6 / 309

Class: Junior

What I Think: Eben Britton an experienced tackle from Arizona State has shown he is very capable of being a cornerstone right or left tackle. While only a Junior when he left, he started all 3 years he was at Arizona St. and was the key to their Offensive Line. He has an ideal size and the kind of frame that could add or lose weight easily. Britton has a very high football I.Q and is an excellent technician on the field. He perfectly understands angles and positioning, something that is more and more rare when drafting. He is also tough, physical and he plays to the whistle on every down. Britton is very strong and is powerful. He is good protecting the pass but is also AMAZING against the run and can really get a push in the run game. If he doesn’t start immediately he could still play in goal line situations and get a good push for the running back. Britton also has an extraordinary punch at the line. He is stout at the point of attack and neutralizes defenders when locked on with them. Britton is also a leader and is an extremely hard worker. He is also durable and lots of experience. All of that said, he only is average athletically. His speed lacks and he has trouble moving around with fast defenders. Also he has short arms and doesn’t always play with proper pad level which could be taught. Britton struggles in space and his range is limited because of his very short arms. He also doesn’t have very good footwork yet and poor lateral mobility. I also don’t see very much upside in him with low athleticism.
