Did Jay Cutler Ask For a Trade Weeks Before?

Jay Cutler

Before you all don’t want to take this seriously and just pawn it off as another rumor you all need to listen to this because you might really change your opinion after this one article.

Apparently Peter Kings’ MMQB column over at Sports Illustrated is a disclosure that Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler had asked to be traded weeks before the team tried to comply with his request. Now we don’t know how true this is but I have a lot of respect for King and might just believe him.

Per King, Cutler requested to be dealt after quarterbacks coach Jeremy Bates bolted for USC. It would make perfect sense, right? Jay Cutler had complained all along about the firing of Mike Shanahan and when he heard Jeremy Bates was gone it might have been the point where he blew.

So if in fact, Josh McDaniels approached another team in a trade for Cutler it would have been on his request not going behind the backs of the organization. So, here is how it stands now: We need to trade Jay Cutler. I know, shocking I would say this. We need to trade him before this becomes the most ugly situation in the NFL.

Maybe I am being a bit reactionary and I need to cool down but as it stands now Cutler needs to go. If in fact he did this, which he might have not; he needs to go. We will see how this one plays out but I am very disappointed by all of this.

I don’t care how much of a little girl Jay is being right now; he cannot be traded. The Broncos were 8-8 last year, with a great offense and a crappy defense. If cutler goes, how well could the broncos possibly do with a crappy offense and an almost halfway decent defense? Unless we’re getting Matt Ryan, Ben Roethlisberger, or another young, proven QB out of this trade, Cutler puts on his big boy pants and tries to make it work in Denver. It’s a business Jay, and at this point in his career, with no playoff appearences or even a winning record as a starter, he has absolutely no right to demand a trade.
