Conflicting Reports: Brian Dawkins Signs w/ Broncos

Brian Dawkins

Okay, so there are conflicting reports on whether this is fact but I personally have decided to run with it. So Pro Football Talk, Sporting News, NFL Fan House and The San Francisco Chronicle are all reporting that Brian Dawkins will be a Denver Bronco next year after visiting us earlier in the day.

“Dawkins fills a huge hole for the Broncos. Their defense will be stocked with new, presumably young for the most part, faces. Dawkins gives them an experienced leader who can help the team forge a new defensive identity.” NFL Fan House quoted.

The reason we are going with this is first off, we think it is true. Second, I want it to be true. Brian Dawkins is an excellent player who while a bit old and might not much longer than 2-3 years would be a fantastic addition to our Defensive Backs and with recently signed Renaldo Hill we would have a great group of Safeties.

Remember that John Lynch was also very old when he came to the Broncos but every single year with us attended a Pro Bowl. Maybe it could be the same with Dawkins. He is a run stuffing Safety too who could help us in many different ways. While there are conflicting reports, I think and hope this one will pan out.

UPDATE: I just got this across the newswire. While it looks very, very, very likely he will sign Adam Schefter says that he is on a plane to Denver and the deal isn’t finalized yet. He will be meeting with the coaches and we will continue to keep you updated on this news story.

“Contrary to published reports, free agent safety Brian Dawkins does not currently have a deal with the Broncos. However, he is en route to Denver. The Broncos do have agreements with running backs Correll Buckhalter and J.J. Arrington, according to the players’ agents.”
