Broncos Strike Again

The Broncos are not wasting any time this offseason, agreeing to terms with two more free agents. Not even an hour after signing Corell Buckhalter, J.J. Arrington, and Lonie Paxton, the Broncos reached deals with New England Patriots wide receiver Jabar Gaffney and Miami Dolphins safety Renaldo Hill.

Gaffey, the third receiver McDaniels offense from a year ago, put up monster numbers for a slot guy, picking up 917 yards and seven touchdowns in his last two seasons as a Pat. This acquisition takes the Broncos receiving corps from being in the top half of the league to being easily one of the top three, with Brandon Marshall and Eddie Royal starting and Brandon Stokley and Gaffney manning the three and four spots.

Hill, a three year starter in Maimi, totaled 77 tackles and three interceptions last season, nd was an integral part of the Dolphins record turnaround. This signing, coupled with the possible signing of Brian Dawkins and the up-and-coming Josh Barrett, instantly improve the safety position in Denver.

These three signings are solid moves for the rookie head coach-GM tandem in Denver. Josh McDaniels and Brian Xanders made very smart plays in the early part of free agency, signing a better than average 3 or 4 receiver, two solid running backs, and a solid safety in Hill.

So far, so good, McDaniels.
