February 22, 2009

Max Unger is well known as the most versatile player in the NFL Draft. He can play any position on the Offensive Line and has drawn interest from teams across the nation. He could land from the late first to late second round and play anything on Offensive Line. Here is his draft profile:

Max Unger

Max Unger

Name: Max Unger

Position: Center (Offensive Line)

School: Oregon

Height & Weight: 6-5 / 300

Class: Senior

What I Think: When you want to talk about versatile players the first player that comes into my mind is Max Unger who is an excellent Offensive Linemen at any position. Coming out of college he played Center but he could play whatever you ask him to. I could see him playing guard better than tackle but he could be successful at either. It would be quite hard to be a bust because he could jump around to multiple positions. Unger has excellent size with a great frame and he has great strength and power. He is quick for his position and he understands positioning and angles. Unger uses his hands well and he is smart with terrific awareness. He also has great mobility and range with superb balance. Unger is stout at the point of attack and he can anchor a Offensive Line. He gets a fantastic push in the run game and has a lot of experience. He is durable and he will always play to the whistle. Max Unger isn’t a great athlete and doesn’t always play with proper leverage. He is not always fast off the edge and is not light on his feet. He also allows defenders to get to close to the QB which can backfire and let up sacks. Unger has lots of experience playing and was a 4 year starter after being red-shirted. Also what I like is that he can defend about both the run and the pass.
