Exclusive Draft Profile: Louis Delmas

February 21, 2009

I have in the second round, Louis Delmas a Safety from Western Michigan projected to go to the Denver Broncos. After watching some film I have come up with his his exclusive NFL Draft profile. Enjoy!

Louis Delmas

Louis Delmas

Name: Louis Delmas

School: Western Michigan

Position: Free Safety

Height & Weight: 5-11 / 196

Class: Senior

What I Think: Western Michigan is a small school that usually does not have very big NFL prospects. Yet every once in a while they will have a big one and they usually find lots of success in the NFL. They include Greg Jennings and Tony Scheffler. Hopefully Louis Delmas will be the next big Western Michigan prospect. He is very tough and physical and brings excellent instincts and awareness against both the run and the pass game. One of the reasons that I like him so much for the Broncos is that he is excellent against the run game. He will deliver the big hit and reminds me a lot of John Lynch. Delmas is smooth and fluid with his hips and brings great range. While he is not fantastic in the pass game he can still match up very well in coverage. Delmas is very active and is always around the action. I think that Delmas brings some great ball skills too. If he can match up in coverage in the NFL he will get a lot of Interceptions with his great ball skills. He might even have potential to play on special teams. He has always been very productive in college and I think that he could bring that into the NFL with ease. Delmas is not fast though and he does not have great timed quickness at all. He lacks a burst to close and can be too aggressive at some times. Some pro Wide Receivers he will struggle against because he does not have a lot of practice against elite competition. He impresses me because he has a lot of playing experience and he was a team captain with his great leadership skills.

Draft Grade: A-
