BM Exclusive Draft Profile: Phil Loadholt

December 22, 2008

We’re going to be continuing our draft profiles with Phil Loadholts who we can credit with protecting Sam Bradford all season long. I hope you enjoy this one because it will be the last of the day until we do our position by position preview. Again I will push you to come see our live blog starting at 7:00 pm ET here

Phil Loadholt Defends Bradford

Name: Phil Loadholt

Position: Offensive Tackle

School: Oklahoma St.

Height & Weight: 6-8 / 338

Class: Senior

What I Think: Big is an understatement for what Oklahoma Offensive Tackle, Phil Loadholt is. Loadholt is at the time a first round prospect but could drop to the second round if he does not show up at the combine and at the National Championship Game. I am looking forward to seeing him play because I think that he could be an interesting prospect for the next few months and might be the most underrated player in the draft. I’m sure that heisman winner Sam Bradford would agree as Loadholt has been protecting him all season and doing a good job of it. He is quick off the ball and chops his feet well and can mirror a defender. While Loadholt is big he is also very strong with both his arms and legs in protection and can overpower pass rushers better than a lot of Offensive Tackles in the game right now. He was an Honorable mention All-American by Sports Illustrated. He was on the Dallas Morning News’ All-Big 12 first team and was named second team All-Big 12 by the coaches and Associated Press. He has been very durable and has started all 14 games of the season. Loadholt is an athlete at heart who with his perfect blend of size, strength and speed could be a star at the next level. Watch out for him as a top 15 pick.

Draft Grade: B
