Saturday’s Horsing Around With Jon Krause

December 20, 2008

NFL Week 16, Sunday December 21st, 2008, 4:05[ET], Broncos Vs. Bills

The weather is gonna be around 12 degrees on kickoff! At 7:05 it’s supposed to be about 11 degrees! Also we should expect snow… This should be fun.

This game scares me, because it’s one of those games that’s just ‘too easy’. I mean it’s not, it’s really not, the Bills are a GOOD football team. KC was also a Good football team back when we played them in week 4.  So if we win we’re in, if not [and the Chargers win] then it comes down to the game in San Diego! That would be horrible. To put it plainly this game is a MUST WIN. The Bills are are 6-8 and out of the playoff race BUT, that’s not really a good thing. I quote Marshall:

“If a team is not in the playoffs, they want to take somebody home with them. It is not easy. A lot of people think, ‘Oh, you are going up against a team that is 6-8,’ but those teams are the ones you don’t want to see at the end of the season when you need a win.”

It would be a great way to end our [Invesco] Mile High season with a playoff  birth. We are not the team at all that we used to be at home this year. So it won’t be so easy. We are all wondering which ‘D’ will show up this week? The one that held Ronnie Brown, Jamal Lewis, Michael Turner, Larry Johnson, and yes even DeAngelo Williams had less less than 100 yards, or the one that collasps in the 4th and gives up leads, and can be run or pass on with ease. SO inconsistent it’ll drive me mad!

One thing we got going is Buffalo’s secondary is not so swell, and Jay is well, swell. And I hardly even noticed, and can’t believe this is not being more talked about, our offense is ranked 2nd in the NFL!

Before the game Rod Smith will be on the field talking, and thanking the fans for their support though is 13 year career. So you might wanna see that.

Elvis Dumervil said in his blog:

“…this game means a lot, and we all know that — you know that. Our house has always been one of the loudest, but it needs to be louder than ever. We need to let the Bills know that they’re in for a fight, and y’all can help us.  One of the keys to this game will be stopping Marshawn Lynch. We’ve seen a lot of good running backs, and he’s just another one of them. We’ve faced a lot of good ones, so he’s not something that we haven’t seen. He has good vision, andhe plays bigger than he looks. Stopping him will help get us closer to coming away with a win at our final home game.”

Here’s the Passing, Rushing, and ‘D’ case’s:

Passing Case: Denver’s Jay Cutler is headed to the Pro Bowl when this season is all said anddone. With 24 TD’s, 15 Int’s, 3,851 yards, and 326 completions, he’s earned his way to Hawaii. His Fav Target is Brandon Marshall, Marsh has 88 catches, 1081 yards, and 6 TD’s. He’s also going to Hawaii. Everybody hopes those two will be a big threat for a long time to come. Buffalo’s J.P. I think will play, Trent is out I’m pretty sure. Losman has 2 TD’s, 5 Int’s, 584 yards, with 63 completions. His Fav Target is Lee Evans, who has 56 catches, 935 yards, and 3 TD’s. Winner: The Broncos are better than the Bills in the air, they are just about as good as any team in the NFL when it comes to going though the air.

Rushing Case: The Bills’ Lynch is hot stuff. I really don’t think he’s that good, and don’t like his running style. His rookie year I thought he was way over rated. But his stats are bad at T’all. With 239 carries, he’s got 1002 yards, and 4.2 avg, and 7 TD’sto go along with it. His lead blocker (FB) is Corey McIntyre . Corey has been on 4 teams in the last 5 years. He’s started 2 games this year, andhe’s listed on Buffalo’s depth chart as the starter, and I really don’t know anything about him. Denver’s back is —- we don’t know! A mistory man. But no, seriously I think Tatum Bell is our guy. Tatum has carried the ball 31 times for 143 yards with a 4.6 avg. He can also catch some balls if we need him too. His lead blocker (FB) is — I don’t really know. It’ll depends on the situation. Winner: The Bills win, mainly because our back field is in shambles.

‘D’ Case: The Broncos ‘D’ is ranked 27th in rush yards. And we have 23 sacks, with 6 picks, while Jamie Winborn  leads the team with 84 tackles. Overall our ‘D’ kinda stinks. The Bills, on the other hand are ranked 11th in pass yards and have 22 sacks, with 9 picks, Paul Posluszny  (whom I’m a big fan of, he went to Penn State) leads the team with 96 tackles. Winner: It’s so hard to say, just this once, for the first time I’ll call it a tie.

It’ll be a game you won’t wanna miss. Till next week, Go Broncos!!!

UPDATE: Champ Bailey is again on the Questionable list on the Injury Report, so I don’t know. I really don’t expect him to play. The last few weeks I’ve really got’n my hopes up, and he’s not played – so we’ll see what happens.
