Exclusive Draft Profile: Coye Francies

Coye Francies

Coye Francies

Name: Coye Francies

Position: Cornerback

School: San Jose St.

Height & Weight: 6-0 / 185

Class: Senior

What I Think: Coye transferred to San Jose State from the University of Oregon State following several off the field incidents; Chief among them was an arrest for a weapons-related incident but even with that he has become one of the top prospects at the Cornerback position and could range anywhere from the second to fourth round. There are even some players saying that he could go in the very late rounds after he ran a slow 40 time (only a 4.59). Francies has great height and long arms. He ran a terrible 40 time but still has excellent speed, it just isn’t good timed speed. It has allowed him to become a decent kick returner too (22.9 avg. in college). He has fluid hips and great feet when running. He may be one of the most poised Cornerbacks in this years class. Francies changes direction well and when tackling has a great burst to close it up. I wouldn’t refer to him as a hard hitter but he can be with a bit off work. His jamming is the best in the entire draft and he is very physical at the line and at the point of attack. Francies if anything is very tough and can be knocked around physically. He does not have a history of injuries at all and seems to be invincible out on the field. While he has character issues he still is a hard worker has a ton of upside. But through his transfers he does not have very much experience and could stand to bulk up a bit. He is not very strong though and his technique could use a bit of work but could easily be fixed by the right coaching staff. While Francies is good in coverage he doesn’t show signs of being a big playmaker. Intelligence regarding football (and maybe off the field) might be an issue and he does have some character concerns.

Draft Grade: C+
