Scouting Report: Jonathan Dwyer

November 25, 2008

Jonathan Dwyer, RB, Georgia Tech

Strengths: Pretty big for a Running Back … Decent experience for a Junior … Has solid speed … Provides versatility as a Wide-Out … Good hands … Is a good power running back … Bursts to the hole … Understands how to use his blockers … Super productive … Reportedly a team leader.

Weaknesses: Runs very, very stiff which needs to be worked on at the next level … Doesn’t have a large repertoire of running moves … Doesn’t seem to know if he is a power or speed back … May only be a system back at the next level.

Overall: I am not drinking the Jonathan Dwyer kool-aid just yet. You shouldn’t either, trust me. Dwyer may put together an excellent Junior Season and still end up being the bust of the draft. To me, he seems to stiff and not sure of what he wants to be just yet. Is he a power running back or an elusive running back? Honestly, I don’t think he is too great at being either.
