Willie D. Clark Indicted

October 8, 2008

A grand jury indictment has been issued charging Willie Clark in the murder of Broncos cornerback Darrent Williams, officials announced today. Williams was shot to death on New Year’s Day 2007 as he left a Denver nightclub in a stretch limousine on Speer Boulevard which caused heartbreak and sorrow for every Broncos fan.

Today a big breakthrough was made in the case as they finally indicted Willie D. Clark, the alleged killer of Williams.

In the indictment announced today, Clark is charged with two counts of first-degree murder, sixteen counts of attempted first-degree murder, two counts of second-degree assault, illegal discharge of a firearm , sixteen crime of violence counts (sentence enhancer), and two counts of possession of a weapon by a previous offender.

“A white Chevrolet Tahoe used in the drive-by shooting belonged to Brian Kenneth Hicks, who police say is the leader of the Elite Eight, a sect of the Denver Tre Tre Crips gang.” The Denver Post reported who it turns out had close relations to Willie D. Clark.

It honestly has surprised me that the indiction took so long for there has been hard evidence for ages now that he killed Williams. It included letters, people speaking out, and confirmed license plate numbers of the car that the drive by took place in.

Williams’ shooting followed an argument between friends of Williams and another group of men outside The Shelter nightclub at 10th Avenue and Broadway. It is still not known if that was related to the murder.

I am glad that we may have found the killer and that we can put this tragedy behind us. May Darrent Williams rest in peace.
