September 20, 2008

Bronco Madness as you might know is delving into college football this year with our Exclusive Draft Profiles. These are Bronco Madness originals and are now the first Broncos site to begin producing them. We continue exploring potential draftees with a player who tops the DT class but might struggle to be even an early second round pick.

Jerry Stuffs A Running Back

Jerry Stuffs A Running Back

Name: Peria Jerry

Position: Defensive Tackle

School: Ole Miss

Height & Weight: 6-2 / 290

Class: Senior

What I Think: It would be an understatement to say that Defensive Tackle is a weak position this year. It is a position where about 3 players at it are drafted in the first round and this year none may. It is the weakest in ages and Peria Jerry is one of the few players who could defy the odds and break into the first round. Last year as a Junior he had 14 Tackles for Losses which finished him 6th in the SEC. He was named Rebel Quarterback Club Defensive Player of the Week for 2 straight weeks in his Junior year. Peria now as a Senior is performing just as well for Ole Miss and is by far the best defensive player on their entire team. He is a run stuffer who can easily break through the O-Line and stuff a Running Back with ease. Injury concerns are low for him as in his Junior year he started all 12 games.  With a great combination of strength and quickness, not to mention a non-stop motor, Jerry would be a perfect fit for almost any teams system. He can easily be fit to the mold of any NFL team and could be a star for years to come. Last year he finished second on the team in TFLs , sacks (3.5) and hurries (4) and eighth in total tackles (58). Jerry is one of the best Defensive Tackles in the draft.

Draft Grade: B-
