Turning It Around

June 16, 2008

The Broncos in last years 2007 draft knew that Marcus Thomas was an absolute steal. A 1st round talent taken in the 4th round. But they knew there was one little catch. They were taking a player with quite a history of trouble.

He was suspended from college on drug charges. But sadly that catch returned a couple of months ago when there was cocaine found in the side compartment of a car that Marcus Thomas had ridden in earlier that day.

It turned out it was not Marcus Thomas as the man who owned the car claimed it was his. All charges against Thomas were dropped. But now Marcus Thomas wants to turn it all around, forget the past and become the star that he is capable of being.

He is the perfect size for a Defensive lineman at a whopping 6 feet 3 inches tall and 315 pounds. He has power, strength and can wreak havoc on a offensive line. Thomas even says that right now he feels he is in the best football shape of his life.

“I just can’t wait to get out there and show what I can do this year. Especially after last year, you know, I felt like missing half the season in college (I was) not really in football shape. This year I feel like I’m in great shape.” Thomas said to CBS.

The truth is he needs to step up. The Broncos are in great need of a force on their defensive line or else their season will fall apart. It is obvious how much a good lineman can mean to a team. Look at the Titans, Albert Haynesworth turned the team into playoff caliber simply with his play.

But it is time to forget about the past because Thomas still has a strong future ahead of him in the league and could really make a name for himself. He needs to be the same guy he was in college. Not the drugged one but the one who in 5 games had 26 tackles and 4 sacks.
