The Top 5 Broncos Players of All Time

February 3, 2008

I have been waiting a long time to do this and I am glad to finally sit down and write a post I have been dying to start. See it is hard to say oh he is better than him. Well what about that guy? I wanna put him in. He was with them in the Super Bowl. These are all things that you think about when you rank something like this. What a lot of people don’t understand is the challenge of putting in 5 and not the others. It really makes your head hurt. (For I am a deeply tortured man). I will do the best I can.

Number 5 is a tough one. Because this is when you kick out many many options. For number 5 I will choose Rod Smith. This guy is one of the most talented wide receivers the Broncos have ever had. You could say Ed Mccaffrey is the best but Rod Smith has been around longer and has better stats because of this. With a total of over 10,000 yards he is one of the best Broncos ever.<a

Choosing number 4 is probably the easiest. I’m not sure why but I had the least trouble choosing this slot. This is the only player on the list who is still starting. Champ Bailey though young is my pick for the fourth best player of all time. He is a great corner back who seems to get better and better each year. At this point in time it looks like he is a future Hall of Famer who’s best still hasn’t come.

Number three goes to star running back Terrell Davis. He didn’t play a full career or else he could be number one. He is one of the few players to have a 2,000 yard rushing season. He is the MVP of a Super Bowl and if his career would have been longer he could have been in the Hall of Fame. He is number 3 at the least.

Shannon Sharpe is the best choice for number two and i can almost guarantee he will be in the Hall of Fame. He is the best tight end ever and I mean ever. He can block receive and was the biggest tight end force ever to play in a Super Bowl. He was one of John Elways favorite targets for years and is indefinitely the second best Bronco of all time.

Number 1 surprisingly wasn’t hard because we have one player who rises over them all. He is John Elway. John Elway is one of the greatest players ever. He is even the second best player of all time in ProFootballTalk.com’s top 25 greatest players. He won two Super Bowls and had one of the most successful careers ever. So we will leave it at that and hope that a new amazing number 1 comes around. It could maybe even be Jay Cutler.
