Broncos Aiming For 10 Wins
The Broncos have been waiting since their AFC Conference loss to have 10 wins. It may be coming this year. Or at least that is what they are aiming for especially with Mike Shanahan’s job on the line.
Let’s lay down the facts on why the Broncos may have one of their better seasons coming up.
A Successful Draft: The Broncos definitely had a good draft. They covered some important positions like OT and Kick Returner in the first two rounds and covered some less pressing ones in the later rounds. Ryan Clady is a centerpiece for an Offensive line and could protect Jay Cutler for years to come.
Eddie Royal is like a Devin Hester 2.0. He isn’t the as good a kick returner as Hester but he is close and can play WR very well. Royal could be another great slot receiver. Also our run game got a boost in the draft with both Ryan Torain who could start at RB in a few years and Peyton Hillis who could be an immediate starter at FB.
They even bolstered their defense in players like Josh Barrett and Spencer Larsen. Barrett will be able to take over when John Lynch leaves the team and Larsen could challenge Niko Koutovides for the starting job at MLB.
Free Agency: Their Free Agency attack was extremely good. They got some great players at low prices. Our most popular acquisition was Boss Bailey. He is not only a great Linebacker but he is Champ Bailey’s brother and will add a real nice feel to the huddle.
Another famous addition was Darrell Jackson who didn’t play as well last year with an unstable situation at QB with the 49ers. Though before that he had three 1,000 yard seasons. He will go nicely with Brandon Marshall at WR.
Casey Wiegmann also was a very helpful signing. He can help prepare the day Tom Nalen retires and also can play guard if there are any injuries. The former Chief will really help our line.
Dewayne Robertson: Dewayne Robertson was an injury prone player in his years with the Jets but played most of his games. The Broncos went out and had a great trade with the Jets for Robertson. If he doesn’t play well, we will not have to give up anything. If he plays enough and is successful than there will be no price to pay.
Overall this was a very successful off-season that could help us for years to come. 10 wins looks like a definite possibility. But then again so does 6 wins. A good season is probably ahead and maybe just maybe the Broncos can take back the AFC West.
